Resuming Drilling at the Kings Mountain Mine |
Albemarle is preparing to begin an additional drilling campaign at the Kings Mountain Mine site to obtain essential geological data and test extensions of the resource to support mining operations as planned.
This will build upon previous drilling campaigns and is scheduled to start in May and continue through the end of the year. The plan includes drilling approximately 50,000 feet in total, consisting of 30-35 individual boreholes ranging from 800 to 1,400 feet deep.

Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas
Albemarle is proud to support Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas (CCP), a nonprofit organization that provides critical resources, community and compassion for children with cancer and their families.
In many rural communities, access to pediatric cancer care is limited. But through partnerships with committed local funders like Albemarle, CCP helps address barriers to children receiving timely, complete access to lifesaving treatment. CCP focuses on removing obstacles to care by covering transportation, lodging, meals and other essential expenses that families face during a child’s cancer journey. Their mission is particularly impactful for rural and underserved families, who are three times more likely to face delayed diagnoses, incomplete treatment or worse outcomes.
One of the children CCP supports in our community is Willow. At just 2 years old, Willow was diagnosed with a tumor. She has endured chemotherapy, radiation and the removal of a kidney. Now 5 years old and in remission, Willow continues to inspire those around her.
“Looking back, it’s almost impossible that we’ve made it through. But Willow is in remission, and her bravery made us all stronger,” said Theresa, Willow’s grandmother. “We are grateful and blessed to have each other and the support from Children’s Cancer Partners.”
Willow and her three siblings are being raised by their grandparents, who have leaned on CCP for both logistical and emotional support throughout her treatment. We invite you to learn more about Children’s Cancer Partners and their life-changing work by visiting childrenscancerpartners.org.

Piedmont Boy Scouts
With support from Albemarle's grant, the Piedmont Scouting Council is expanding its outreach to at-risk families in Kings Mountain and surrounding communities. The funds will help youth and their families attend weeklong camps at Camp Bud Schiele in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. These camps focus on character development, citizenship, personal fitness and leadership. The grant will also support outreach, program materials and staffing to ensure these life-changing experiences remain accessible for all families.
