Albemarle Scholarship Celebrates Cleveland County’s
Future STEM Leaders |
 |
Albemarle is proud to present the Albemarle Kings Mountain Community Scholarship, an initiative designed to support Cleveland County students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This scholarship reflects Albemarle’s commitment to fostering educational growth and empowering the next generation of STEM professionals in our community.
This year, four outstanding students were selected to receive the Albemarle Kings Mountain Community Scholarship. To be eligible, applicants must be high school seniors in Cleveland County who plan to pursue a STEM major at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular involvement, work experience and a written statement of career goals. Students attending trade or technical schools are eligible for a $2,500 scholarship, renewable for a second year or until their degree is earned. University students receive a $5,000 scholarship, renewable annually for four years or until graduation.

100th Public Tour Completed! |
Albemarle marked its 100th public tour of the Kings Mountain Mine on June 17, welcoming community members, nonprofit partners and local leaders.
Albemarle geologists, engineers and project leaders joined tour leader Cindy Estridge in guiding attendees through the open‑pit mine and water‑management system, showcasing operational practices and environmental safeguards.
The milestone event reinforced Albemarle’s dedication to transparency, community engagement and environmental stewardship. Albemarle project leaders emphasized the mine’s role in strengthening domestic lithium supply chains while fostering local trust. Here’s to the next 100 tours—and continued partnership with the Kings Mountain community. |

Feeding Kids Cleveland County |
Feeding Kids Cleveland County (FKCC) is a volunteer-powered nonprofit founded in 2016 with a mission to ensure no child in the county goes hungry—and that every student has access to books. Since its inception serving just 20 children, they have expanded their support to more than 800 students and their families through the packing and delivering weekend food bags, age-appropriate books, “Little Free” mini libraries and by hosting Community Table Thanksgiving meals across six locations. A $10,000 grant from the Albemarle Foundation is enabling FKCC to enhance its outreach in the Kings Mountain area by expanding weekend food bag deliveries, increasing the number of books in each package and covering essential food and supply costs. |
